The 10-day Mt Kilimanjaro Hiking takes you on a thrilling hiking adventure along the Lemosho route to Uhuru peak (5895m). Known for its scenic views, the Lemosho route ushers you to the cathedral peak at 3872 meters and hikers also stand a chance to encounter many other features including Alien-like plants, and Dendrosenecio kilimanjari. Your complete hiking adventure on Lemosho will begin and end in Moshi.

Day 3: Trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Day 4: Leave Shira 1 Camp for Shira 2 Camp

Day 7: Hike to Barafu Camp

Day 8: Barafu to Uhuru Peak then Millennium Camp

Day 9: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate –back to Moshi

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up & Transfer to hotel in Moshi

Expect to meet your Tanzania safari expert at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and you will be transferred to Moshi town. This will be a 45-minute drive and on arrival, check in your pre-booked hotel in Moshi town.

Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Pick up at the hotel in Moshi and be transferred to Londorossi gate where you will meet the officials for briefing. Londorossi gate is at an elevation of 2200 meters and you will clear with Kilimanjaro officials. After, proceed with a hike up to Mti Mkubwa camp at 2780m which involves navigating via the lush rainforest. Arrive early so you can set up your tents and settle for lunch. After, proceed with the acclimatization trek towards the Shira 1 camp (3095m) then get back to Mti Mkubwa.

Day 3: Trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Leave Mti Mkubwa for Shira 1 Camp with an expert. At Shira 1 Camp, expect to enjoy the spectacular views of the Shira plateau and Kibo volcano. The trek is expected to run for 5 to 6 hours and after a successful hike, you will settle at the Shira 1 camp.

Day 4: Leave Shira 1 Camp for Shira 2 Camp

Enjoy a heavy breakfast and after, you will proceed to Shira 2 Camp at 3900m. Today’s hike comes with great views of Kilimanjaro’s distinct flora and also Mt Meru on a clear day. Get to the camp early for you to relax and also enjoy lunch.

Day 5: Shira 2 to Barranco Camp

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and after, proceed to Barranco Camp with an expert. Expect a challenging ascent to Lava Tower at 4630m and your journey also includes 1-2 hours of acclimatization. At Barranco camp 3960m, expect the great views of the Barranco wall.

Day 6: Barranco to Karanga

Breakfast early morning will be followed by a hike to the Barranco wall. Expect to take pictures of the nearby features and also appreciate the breathtaking views of the Kibo volcano. Proceed with a hike to Karanga Camp which includes many ascents and descents. At Karanga, expect to have a lunch break and proceed with an acclimatization trek towards Barafu camp.

Day 7: Hike to Barafu Camp

Leave Karanga for Barafu Camp which is at 4640m. Arrive early to settle at the camp and enjoy lunch. You will also have an acclimatization trek towards the intermediate Kosovo summit camp at 4800m and later, return to Barafu Camp for a leisurely dinner.

Day 8: Barafu to Uhuru Peak then Millennium Camp

Leave Barafu Camp at 4640m for a great hike to Uhuru Peak (5895m). Today’s hike requires some technical skill though simple and upon a successful trek to Uhuru Peak, you will have the best moment of your life. After, you will begin descending to Millennium Camp at 3820m.

Day 9: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate –back to Moshi

Leave the Millennium Camp which is lying in the lush tropical rainforest. Proceed up to the Mweka gate where you will have a warm welcome back from officials. Certificates will be provided and then your driver will transfer you back to Moshi town.

Day 10: Departure

At leisure, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and after, you will continue to the airport. At the airport, you will depart back home and today marks the end of 10 days Mt Kilimanjaro hiking adventure.
