Be part of this guided 4-day Uganda double gorilla trekking safari to meet with 2 different gorilla families in Uganda! Head from Rwanda, the “Land of a Thousand Hills” into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site marked by mist-covered hillsides and one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests. The purpose of this short Gorilla tour is to enjoy a double gorilla trekking adventure, hence perfect for photography. You will follow the team of expert Park Rangers and guides into the jungle of Bwindi to meet face-to-face and interact with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, in a responsible and environmentally-friendly way.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali- City Tour- Scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Meet your safari guide in Kigali (Hotel or any other place of residence) this morning to embark on your 4-Day Double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda. You will have a brief tour of the City of Kigali, exploring the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, inaugurated in 2004 to commemorate the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and celebrate the 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
Later, embark on the four to five-hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is known for sheltering over 120 mammal species, over 350 bird species, 200 butterfly species and several reptile and Amphibian species. Border crossing at Cyanika border Here, there is almost half the World’s population of Mountain gorillas and more than 20 gorilla families have been habituated for tracking.

Travel time: 4-5 hours.
Day 2: First Gorilla trekking Adventure
Be up early for the start of your Gorilla trekking adventure by reporting at the Park Headquarters for briefing and registration. You will be introduced to the guidelines to be followed by tracking and spending time with the Giant Apes, then follow the Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger guides to search for the mountain gorillas. These Giant Apes are under 24-hour monitoring for their own safety hence you are almost guaranteed (95%) to see them.
After 1-6 hours of searching for them, you will locate them. You will be requested to leave your bags behind before approaching them and maintain 7 meters while watching and taking photos of them as they go about their daily routines. Ranger guides will interpret mountain gorilla behavior, and after your time with them, retreat to the Lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you have an option of resting or going on a Batwa cultural tour to learn about the culture and lifestyle of the original inhabitant of the Central African forests.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking Adventure- drive to Lake Bunyonyi
This is another incredible day! You will rise bright and early for your second gorilla trekking adventure, most likely to meet a different habituated gorilla family. Before starting on this trek, armed Park Rangers will take you through a briefing to ensure your safety and that of the Giant Apes. This lasts 1-6 hours and for this reason, we recommend wearing sturdy hiking boots, comfortable safari pants, gardening gloves, and other trekking attire.
Once the mountain gorillas are located, you will spend one hour watching and taking photos as Ranger guides interpret their behavior as they play, feed, interact with each other, rest, or groom each other. These Giant Apes are normally curious to see humans hence you have to follow the guidelines issued during the briefing. You will return to the base to collect your trekking certificate and back to the Lodge for lunch.
Afterward, pack your bags and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 4: Canoeing- transfer to Kigali
Have breakfast and enjoy a dugout canoe safari on Lake Bunyonyi for an experience to enjoy birding and Island hopping. Enjoy views of bird species and the surrounding rolling hills during this one to two-hour canoeing adventure.
Return to the Lodge, have lunch, and pack your bags for a scenic drive back to Kigali City. It’s time to say farewell to Uganda and Rwanda today. Your 4-day double gorilla trekking adventure in Uganda has come to a close. You will travel onward by plane from Kigali International Airport. Safe travels!
