Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park -Boat cruise at Lake Ihema

The 3-day Rwanda game safari to Akagera National Park begins with a pickup from your location in Kigali. The driver guide from Sarania Adventure Safaris Limited will pick you up and embark on a scenic journey to Akagera National park in Eastern Rwanda.  The transfer drive takes roughly 2-3 hours through changing landscapes as you head to the east. Arrive at the lodge, check-in and refresh.  In the afternoon, go for a boat safari on Lake Ihema, Akagera’s largest lake. The cruise offers you great chances to see a variety of wild water animals and birds seen on the shores of the Lake. Observe large pods of hippos in the water, and sun-basking crocodiles along the shores. For birders, the lake shores shelter many birds such as African fish eagles, kingfishers, and herons. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight

 

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive – Exploring Akagera’s Terrestrial Wildlife:

Spend this whole you exploring the gem in Akagera National Park. Embark on guided game drives in the open plains of the park taking you through diverse habitats, including savannah plains, acacia woodlands, and wetlands as you search for wild animals. The park is home to the big five game and several savannah animals that await you. Among the animals, you will see include Lions, Leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and various antelope species. Return to the lodge for lunch and refreshments.  Later, embark on the afternoon game drive to catch up with wild animals actively feeding before retiring for the night. The evening game drives through the park offer you the chance to meet some animals you might have missed in the morning.  Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Final Game Drive and Departure:

Depending on your departure flight time, go for an early morning game drive to see some animals you might have missed on the previous day. Expect to see animals such as Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Giraffes, elephants, Waterbucks and Topis among others. After the game drive, begin the drive back to Kigali. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International Airport.
